Phil is a qualified lawyer, and studied for his MBA at Kingston Business School. He has worked both on the corporate side and private client side of the financial services sector, specialising in investment management and estate and financial planning. Phil spent 3 years working as an investment consultant at Close Brothers Group, – the UK merchant bank, – 2 years as a Director at Brewin Dolphin Securities, and for 6 years was head of UK Intermediary business Development and the Charities Division at the global financial services group Collins Stewart Hawkpoint Plc which was taken over by Canaccord Financial Inc. Phil also worked for 2 years as a consultant for R&H Fund Services (Jersey) Limited, and works with them today on an ad hoc basis. Phil has also worked regularly on television on BBC’s It’s Your Money and Sky Digital’s Simply Money program.
Phil is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment and is a qualified Chartered Wealth manager of the CISI. Phil is also a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society as is a qualified Chartered Financial Planner. He founded Private Office Asset Management in 2006, and he is also the founder and significant shareholder of Simmonds (International) Financial Associates Limited which is based in Hong Kong, and which is one of the most successful and longest serving financial brokerages in Hong Kong today, – celebrating it’s 20th year in the region in June 2016.
Phil has more than 30 years’ of experience in advising private clients and corporations in the UK and offshore, and he specialises in managing his client’s investment portfolios on a highly bespoke managed advisory service, and where appropriate he advises on the most appropriate out-sourced discretionary management services from the multitude of City based investment houses. Phil offers completely independent investment and financial advice, – his services are independent, not restricted like many advisers are today.

Phil qualified in 2008, having been articled by one of the top commercial law firms in the south east. He continued his legal career as an in-house solicitor at a City investment firm, and established his own law firm in 2014.
Phil is a ferocious litigator, and has a strong focus to achieving the desired outcomes for his clients. Specialising in civil litigation, Phil also has experience in criminal litigation, and he has passed the Law Society’s prescribed Civil Academic and Civil Advocacy Higher Rights of Audience courses which are a pre-requisite to qualification as a Solicitor-Advocate.
